Parade cancelled

The annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Lake Ozark has been cancelled due to concerns about the corona virus, also known as COVID-19.

After input from local health officials, after reviewing recommendations from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and in talking with city of Lake Ozark officials, the Bagnell Dam Strip Association decided that for public health considerations the parade would be cancelled for the first time in 35 years.

Other communities in Missouri have cancelled similar events this weekend. Universities and colleges have cancelled conference basketball tournaments, the NCAA has cancelled March Madness, the Missouri Senate has adjourned for two weeks, and the list of cancellations is growing on fears that the virus will spread farther than the single confirmed case in St. Louis.

BDSA and Lake Ozark officials apologize for any inconvenience the decision has caused. They encourage residents to follow CDC recommendations and urge residents and visitors to use common sense in dealing with the issue.

We all look forward to the 2021 St. Patrick’s Parade.
